Place Name: 63870
Address: 63870, Orcines, Puy-de-Dôme, France
Details:
Today's stage started in Noblat, home of Raymond Poulidor. A group of more than 10 riders broke away from the peloton almost immediately after KM0. They were on their way to the summit finish on the Puy de Dôme for the first time 35 years. The Peloton had no interest in chasing and the break got over 12 minutes. With 48KM remaining, Matteo Jorgenson countered after a few other's attacked and he went clear. The group split multiple times on the way to the start of the climb. When the riders hit the steep slope of Puy de Dôme, Michael Woods showed his ability and caught Jorgenson with 600 meters to go. Woods won his third Grand Tour Stage but it was his first at the Tour. In the GC group, Jumbo Visma set a pace that shelled everyone but Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogačar. Tadej attacked and slowly pulled away, meter by meter. When they hit the line Pogačar gained another 8 seconds, inching closer to the yellow jersey.
