Santos Tour Down Under 2024 Stage 4

January 19, 2024 It was a long, flat pedal across the peninsula. At the start, Pieter Serry was the first mover, coaxing out Jackson Medway and Vinicius Rangel. It wasn't long after the three grouped together that Serry retreated to the safety of the peloton. The break fought hard but the sprinters wouldn't be denied their last opportunity of the race. In the last kilometer, Bora Hansgrohe uncharacteristically lost control but Sam Welsford never panicked. A small rise in the final saw a swell of rider comes from behind but the power of Welsford pushed him clear of Biniam Girmay and the rest, taking three of four stages.
