Address: 266 Mount Lofty Summit Road, Cleland South Australia 5152, Australia
Details: January 21, 2024
The sixth and final day of the Tour Down Under saw the toughest challenge to make the break all week. It look 20km to form, eventually containing Stephan De Bod, Jacopo Mosca, Gil Gelders, Maurice Ballerstedt, Simon Geschke, Franck Bonnamour and António Morgado. The maximum advantage was three minutes forty five seconds, mostly controlled by Israel Premier Tech and Ineos. As in previous days, the break fought hard but the peloton had them pegged and it was all together at 4km to go with the final ascent of Mount Lofty remaining. Isaac Del Toro was the first to move, reducing the front group to just five riders, crucially missing was second place overall Oscar Onley who wouldn't make it back. Once Del Toro let off the gas, Laurence Pithie of Groupama FDJ took advantage. He gained a small gap but when Del Toro picked it back up, he would get rid of Pithie, leaving just himself, Stephen Williams and Jhonatan Narváez. Williams chose the right moment to attack, boxing in Narváez and held it to the line. Williams would take the stage and overall GC for Israel Premier Tech.
