Place Name: Boulevard Charles De Gaulle
Address: Boulevard Charles De Gaulle, 01000 Bourg-en-Bresse, France
Details:
A day for the sprinters, foiled by the break. Victor Campenaerts, Kasper Asgreen, and Jonas Abrahamsen were that foil. The peloton kept the trio on a tight leash all day, never more than a minute or so. At 67KM to go, Pascal Eenkhoorn tried to attack the peloton to bridge to his teammate, Campenaerts. As he got to the front of the bunch, Jasper Philipsen seemed to block and shoulder Eenkhoorn. He wouldn't be put off and with a second effort, got out of the group and up to the break. Once the four got together, they put their heads down and worked really well together. At 15KM to go, the gap was twenty nine seconds. The route got more technical through streets and tight roads giving the advantage to the break. With 1km to go, Campenaerts took a powerful turn to set up Eenkhoorn. It was Asgreen who took the sprint though, saving the Tour for Quickstep.
