Place Name: Route De Dole
Address: 22t Route De Dole, 39800 Poligny, France
Details:
The race to Poligny was like a one-day Classic within a Grand Tour. A large group was out in front with a gap for sixty to ninety seconds. After the intermediate sprint, another group of twenty five riders, lead by Jasper Philipsen, got out of the peloton and tried to join the front. At the front, Victor Campenaerts got a gap with Simon Clarke but that didn't last long as Clarke had to stop with cramps in his legs. Kasper Asgreen, Ben O'Connor and Matej Mohorič attacked the large group and joined Campenaerts but Campenaerts was on his last legs and drifted back with 30KM to go. At 400M, O'Connor made the only move he could and tried to jump the two faster riders. Asgreen covered, dragging Mohorič along. Mohorič was able to make the bike throw and take the win by a tire width, denying Asgreen his second win in as many days.
