Details: Thibaut Pinot was on the minds of nearly everyone at the start of the stage. He announced his retirement at the end of the season and Stage 20 would be the last time racing on his home roads of the Vosges. Naturally, Pinot was in the break. At 31KM to go, he attacked the group on the Petit Ballon. His teammate, Valentin Madouas, tried to go with him but could not follow, leaving Pinot alone at nearly one minute and thirty seconds to the peloton. In the yellow jersey group, Tadej Pogačar attacked Jonas Vingegaard but once again, Vingegaard had the answer. The pair stalled as if in a track stand, allowing Felix Gall to join. Just behind Pinot, Tom Pidcock and Warren Barguil were catching him as they were still ahead of the peloton after having been in the initial breakaway. Shortly after, the trio of Vingegaard, Pogačar, and Gall caught up, making a leading group of six. On the Col de Platzerwasel, Pinot dropped, ending his chance at a final Tour stage win. Barguil and Pidcock followed suit, but behind, Adam and Simon Yates were bridging from the peloton. They made it before the summit, making a new group of five. In the finale, Adam Yates kept the pace strong for his teammate Pogačar. He led out the sprint, and with 200M to go, Pogačar launched and took another stage win at the Tour, a consolation prize for his poor legs a few days earlier.
