Giro d'Italia 2023 Stage 6

The start was aggressive, teams were not sure if the terrain would be too tough for the sprinters. The escapees were Alexandre Delettre, Simon Clarke, Alessandro De Marchi, Francesco Gavazzi, and Charlie Quarterman. As the race went over the second categorized climb, De Marchi and Clarke were alone at the front with two and half minutes lead and 60KM to go. Over a minute with 15KM to go, 33 seconds with 3KM to go and still a lead with 800M. Two started to look at each and it seemed like they were on their last legs. The peloton were on them at 200M and Mads Pedersen took the stage, redeeming his sprint from the previous day.
