Giro d'Italia 2023 Stage 9

A 35KM flat, big gear course was on the schedule for the last stage before the rest day. TT specialist Stefan Küng was hoping his early lead would hold when the favorites came up to bat. Tao Geoghegan Hart was the first to break Küng's time, besting the Swiss rider by two seconds. Geraint Thomas came in one second faster than Geoghegan Hart. Remco Evenepoel was last of the real contenders and he came out swinging in the early time checks. As the KM's ticked by, he was losing time though and in the final KM, it was truly in balance. Evenepoel crossed the line a fraction of a second ahead of Thomas's time, giving Evenepoel the win and Maglia Rosa.
