Giro d'Italia 2023 Stage 13

The race was shortened to 75KM due to cold and wet conditions. The route still included two mountains to climb, leaving plenty of opportunity to attack. Five riders went over the top of the Croix de Coeur, Thibaut Pinot of Groupama-FDJ, Derek Gee of Israel-Premier Tech, Aurélien Paret-Peintre of AG2R La Mondiale, Einer Rubio of Movistar, and Alex Cepeda of EF-Education. On the final slopes of Crans-Montana, Pinot attacked several times to get rid of Rubio and Cepeda who he felt were not doing their share of the work. None of the attacks could drop the other two. With 300M to go, Cepeda attacked but it was Rubio who would come over the top and cross the line first. Pinot was next in second with Cepeda in third. The GC group came in mostly all together after just 2 hours and 15 minutes of racing.
