Details: A mini Il Lombardi was set for the final day of the second week, 190KM with 4000M of climbing. A group of over 20 riders got away and it was status-qou until the final climb of Roncola Alta. Marco Frigo of Israel-Premier Tech and Brandon McNulty of UAE separated themselves but they were joined shortly after by Ben Healy of EF-Education EasyPost. Healy got on and immediately attacked, leaving Frigo dangling with 34KM to go. McNulty was dropped before the top but was able to make his way back to Healy on the descent with 27KM to go. Frigo closed a 40 second gap to make three at the front of the race with 10KM to go. Healy was not content to take it to a sprint and attacked every chance he could. Frigo was dropped on the final hill, 3.5KM from the line but McNulty hung tight. Inside the final 500M, Frigo came from behind to take Healy and McNulty by surprise. Healy closed the gap with McNulty tucking in third wheel. Healy opened his sprint and got passed Frigo but McNulty had the bit extra and snuck passed to take the win by a bike length for his first Grand Tour stage win. In the GC, a few moves split the group but the favorites were all together on the line. Bruno Armirail of Groupama-FDJ was distanced and lost 30 seconds but retains the leader's jersey for another day.
