Place Name: Via Traghete
Address: Via Traghete 14, 30021 Caorle Venice, Italy
Details: It's a flat day that could be tricky for the sprinters if a large break went clear. The route is mostly down hill from Trentino to the Veneto with a complicated finale in Caorle. A large break did not materialize. It went relatively quickly as Senne Leysen of Alpecin-Deceuninck, Diego Pablo Sevilla of Eolo Kometa, Thomas Champion of Cofidis, and Charlie Quarterman of Corratec-Selle Italia got up the road. 2 minutes 30 seconds would be the maximum advantage and as they were just about caught with 23KM to go, Leysen went solo. Leysen would be caught as they went under the 5KM to go banner with Ineos leading, keep race leader Geraint Thomas out of trouble. DSM led through the final corner for Alberto Dainese but Jayco AlUla were quick to take over. Michael Matthews was first to sprint at nearly 300M from the line. Jonathan Milan of Bahrain-Victorious started his sprint in poor position but his strength brough him level with Matthews and Dainese on the line. In a photo finish, Dainese took the win ahead of Milan and Matthews.
