February 6, 2024 Nailed on sprint finish to start the race but that didn't stop seven riders from trying their hand in the break. Bryana Sánchez, Ignacio Prado, Lauro Moro, Diego Ochoa, Cristian Muñoz, David Gómez, and Iván Ojeda were kept within two minutes and eventually were caught around 20KM remaining. Astana led the sprint teams into the last KM, as Michael Mørkøv was guiding Mark Cavendish on one side of the road, Fernando Gaviria started his sprint on the other side, getting a jump. Cavendish could not back level with Gaviria and eventually finished third behind Bingoal WB's rider Davide Persico.
