February 10, 2024 Day 1 offered the only real opportunity for a sprint, so the pressure was on for the fast men. DSM-Firmenich were in charge with 1KM to go but Fabio Jakobsen was too far forward with only two teammates ahead of him. He tried to fall back but was on the wrong side of the road, unprotected from the cross wind. Caleb Ewan, Bryan Coquard, and Alexander Kristoff stayed on the right and when it was time to open up, those were the three to take the top step, with Ewan in first.
