Tour of Oman 2024 Stage 5

February 14, 2024 The Organizers had to shorten the final stage to just 72KM, with the finish climb still intact. A small breakaway was out front but UAE rode the front to keep it all tight. Further up the climb, the peloton was shredded. Adam Yates looked to be setting the pace for his teammate Finn Fisher-Black. When Jan Hirt from Soudal Quick-Step went, Yates needed to respond because Fisher-Black was struggling to keep pace. With Hirt setting the pace, Yates and Hirt caught Huub Artz. He was the last rider from the break and finished third on the stage. Yates seemed to be half-wheeling Hirt the entire time and at 150M to go, Yates sent his message by storming off to the stage and GC win. He was able to put in eleven seconds into Hirt in a short period time, highlighting the great early season form Yates is in going into the UAE Tour.
