UAE Tour 2024 Stage 3

point
Place Name: Jais Road
Address: Jais Road, Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates
Details: February 21, 2024 The riders would be tested on the Jebel Jais climb but they would first have to survive the cross winds. A seventy rider front group split from more than fifty chasers. This section last for 30KM until the chase group finally got level. Once together, things had really calmed but a touch of wheels caused Adam Yates of UAE to fall. He remounted and looked generally alright but would abandon later, halfway up the climb. On Jebel Jais, UAE set the pace. Einer Rubio of Movistar and a teammate tried to get away in a repeat attempt of last year, but UAE were wise and clawed the pair back at 12km to go. The first real move was sent by Jan Hirt Soudal Quickstep at 6KM to go, but Mikkel Bjerg of UAE did the chasing and brought him back in 1KM. It was a stalemate from then on with Bjerg setting a suffocating pace until right before the 1KM banner. At that moment Decathlon AG2R led a violent team acceleration with Valentin Paret-Peintre and Ben O'Connor on his wheel. Jay Vine of UAE detached himself from the rest of the front group to finish second. In doing so, he will take the leader's jersey by eleven seconds on O'Connor.
