UAE Tour 2024 Stage 4

February 22, 2024 A slow day, a good day for a chat amongst the riders. We saw all the sights we see every year at the UAE Tour, but once the riders hit 15KM to go, they found their focus and got back to work for the finale. A crash at 3KM was caused by a touch of brakes near the front that rippled through the group and took down riders halfway down the peloton. Bora-Hansgrohe seemed to be most affected as Danny van Poppel went down leaving Sam Welsford to surf the wheels on his own. The sprint was wide open and it was difficult to see who would emerge from the scrum, but Soudal Quickstep's man Tim Merlier was able to do it again. He took sprint two of two and seems to be the most complete sprinter in the world at the moment.
