point
Place Name: شارع الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود
Address: 138 شارع الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود, Marina Village, Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Details: February 24, 2024 A few of the sprint teams seem to be losing hope of victory. Astana's Mark Cavendish went home, forcing them to change tact, and the lead out riders for Alpecin-Deceuninck went up the road in the breakaway. Astana did put a man up to chase the break but there was almost no urgency in the peloton. At 5KM remaining, the pace was still an amble. 500M later, everyone seemed to get the message at the same time to move up and the race for the finish began. At 400M to go, Juan Sebastián Molano of UAE got a good run but it was too early to hold. At 250M, Tim Merlier of Soudal Quickstep saw his gap to the right and went. He got around the others for his third sprint win of the race. He was not in the best position but his form got him out of trouble and to the line first. Arvid De Kleijn of Tudor Pro Cycling got another second place with Phil Bauhaus of Bahrain-Victorious taking third.
