Faun-Ardèche Classic 2024

point
Place Name: Avenue Georges Clémenceau
Address: Avenue Georges Clémenceau, 07500 Guilherand-Granges, France
Details: February 24, 2024 Fredrik Dversnes of Uno-X Mobility, Melvin Crommelinck of Nice Métropole Côte d'Azur and Antoine Hue of CIC U Nantes Atlantique made the break on a very lumpy route. Hue was first to be dropped with 60KM remaining. The pair got caught at 38KM to go as Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier of Lidl-Trek shredded the peloton on the second to last climb. Halfway up, Ghebreigzabhier's teammate Mattias Skjelmose set off and made a select group that would fight for the win. The only ones to be able to follow were Juan Ayuso of UAE, Felix Gall of Decathlon-AG2R and Romain Grégoire of Groupama-FDJ. Grégoire was dropped near the top but kept dangling, eventually making it back to the leaders on the decent. The four went over the final steep climb all together, no one able to get clear of the others. On the run on, a few attacks were made but the four were evenly matched and the race would go to a sprint. In the final KM, Ayuso was stuck on the front and it was Skjelmose who started the sprint as the peloton was appearing in the background. As the riders hit the line, they were all spread across the road and the peloton was just 100M behind. Ayuso was able to hang on to win with Grégoire in second, Skjelmose in third and Gall in fourth.
