Details:
March 6, 2024 A much lumpier day awaited the riders but the interest level at the start was exceptionally low. Jan Stockli of Team Corratec-Vini Fantini and Samuele Zoccarato of Bardiani CSF-Faizanè were the only takers. The peloton gave them eleven minutes but had it paired down to around seven at 100KM to go. Stockli dropped away at 80KM to go as Zoccarato sped off alone. Zoccarato was finally caught near the base of the final climb at 22KM to go. EF-Education EasyPost hit the front, stringing out the group but over the top it seemed like most sprinters were able to survive with the peloton. Lead outs got a little confused at 1.5KM to go and there was a pause in the pressure allowing riders to come up around. Bahrain-Victorious took over with 800M to go. Through the last corner, riders went down on a wet patch and less than ten made it through un-affected. Bahrain's lead out continued in the last 175M allowing Phil Bauhaus a clean run to the line. Jonathan Milan of Lidl-Trek looked powerful but didn't have the speed or time to get to Bauhaus.
