Volta Ciclista a Catalunya 2024 Stage 6

March 23, 2024 Hugh Carthy of EF Education-EasyPost and Bauke Mollema of Lidl-Trek started the Queen stage attacking to form a break. They got away and had a gap of ninety seconds at the top of the first climb. On the Coll de Pradell, Mollema sat up as UAE and Visma-Lease a Bike were starting to up the pressure eventually catching Carthy. A small group of favorites crested the climb but a larger group was able to rejoin before the slopes of the penultimate climb of Collada de Sant Isidre. With 3KM to the top Tadej Pogačar of UAE attacked. It only took one move and he was clear. He had thirty seconds over the top from Mikel Landa of Soudal Quickstep and another thirty seconds on Egan Bernal of Ineos. The two chasers got together but their combined strength was not enough, finishing the stage nearly a minute behind Pogačar. After six stages, Landa is closest on GC but over three and half minutes adrift.
