The race came back together with 21KM to go as they crossed the start/finish line to start the last lap. Per Strand Hagenes of Visma-Lease a Bike counter attacked and held off the Uno-X Mobility led peloton until 8KM to go, just before the base of the Grisabakken for the final time. Mathias Vacek of Lidl-Trek attacked on the steepest section with Axel Laurance of Alpecin-Deceuninck and Bart Lemmen of Visma-Lease a Bike getting on terms over the top. Vacek didn't get any help from the other two but pressed on nonetheless. At 2KM to go, the first chase group of ten riders where caught by the peloton who then caught the three front riders at the 1KM to go banner. Alexander Kristoff of Uno-X Mobility hit the front at the right time and took the win in front of a roaring hometown crowd. Jordi Meeus of Bora-Hansgrohe tried to get around but had to settle for second. Wout van Aert of Visma-Lease a Bike took an impressive third place in his first days back after his terrible crash at the end of March. Axel Laurance held his GC lead to take the overall win for Alpecin-Deceuninck.
