Mathis Le Berre of of Arkéa-B&B Hotels and Mark Donovan of Q36.5 were the first attackers on this year's Dauphiné. The mist and rain dampened the peloton but not their interest in chasing the break for a likely sprint finish. Lidl-Trek and Decathlon AG2R were responsible for the chasing, bringing the break back from a maximum of 4 minutes down to 3 minutes with 76KM to go. The peloton were taking no chances, bringing the race all together with 16KM to go. The speed in the last 5KM was rapid as it mainly curved downhill to the finish. In the sprint, Mads Pedersen of Lidl-Trek was dropped off first around the final corner with 175M to go. Sam Bennett of Decathlon AG2R was in the wheel and looked to be waiting but when he got out of the saddle, the power wasn't great enough to get passed Pedersen. Pedersen took the stage, Bennett held on for second and Hugo Page of Intermarché-Wanty got in for third.
