Details: June 2, 2024 A break of seven hit the Muur van Geraardsbergen on the second local lap with a 90 second gap. The peloton cut the gap in half by the top, led on by Alpecin-Deceuninck and Intermarché-Wanty. The peloton was reduced to around 40 riders as they made their way to the Bosberg with 55KM to go. Biniam Girmay of Intermarché-Wanty set a hard pace on the Bosberg, trying to split the group even further. Between 35-40 riders formed the first chase group after the Bosberg with the initial break 20 seconds ahead and the larger peloton 30 seconds behind. The break was caught by the first chase group shortly after and it looked like the peloton would also join but with 18KM to go, riders in the front started to attack and draw the group further away. Jonas Abrahamsen of Uno-X Mobility attacked with 14KM to go, followed by Martin Svrček of Soudal Quickstep. The pair held 20 seconds with 5KM to go but Abrahamsen could tell that Svrček's power was fading. Abrahamsen waited until Svrček was done with his pull and attacked at 4.3KM to go, Svrček had no answer and faded back to the peloton. Through 1KM to go, Abrahamsen had 17 seconds which was enough to take his first professional win, 50M in front of Biniam Girmay and Kaden Groves of Alpecin-Deceuninck.
