Place Name: Sjøgata
Address: Sjøgata 81, 8200 Fauske, Norway
Details: August 5, 2024 A category 1 test came right at the start but the rest of the route was fairly tame. A gravel sector near the end may shake things up for what would otherwise be a nailed on sprint stage. Jelle Johannink of TDT Unibet, Eivind Broholt Fougner and Storm Ingebrigtsen of Coop-Repsol, and Simon Pellaud of Tudor Pro Cycling nipped off the front right at the start and quickly established their gap. Uno-X Mobility took the reins, keeping the break around 4 minutes. By 46KM to go, the gap was down to 2 minutes as the bunch started to increase the pace in anticipation of the gravel going into the finale. Pellaud tried to go solo with 33KM to go but Ingebrigtsen hung on for another 8KM until Pellaud finally broke clear. A crash took down a dozen riders in the peloton right before they swung onto the gravel but no contenders seemed to be involved. Pellaud came off the 6KM gravel sector with 25 seconds on a charging peloton, eventually getting caught with 8KM to race. Positioning was crucial going into the last KM. Uno-X Mobility had three riders at the front and lots of shoulders and elbows being thrown behind for their wheel. Alexander Kristoff would not be denied, he came off of Magnus Cort in a carbon copy lead out of Stage 1. Tom Van Asbroeck of Israel-Premier Tech was runner up with Cort taking third.
