Vuelta a Burgos 2024 Stage 1

August 5, 2024 Diego Pablo Sevilla of Polti-Kometa, Iker Mintegi of Euskaltel-Euskadi, and Rodrigo Álvarez of Burgos-BH were the attackers of the day. The peloton held them at 2 minutes but with 60KM to go, their lead had been cut to 1 minute, being chased by Jayco AlUla, Tudor Pro Cycling and Q36.5. Sevilla was the last rider caught, just over the final KOM with 13.5KM to go. There was no stress in the bunch until just under 6KM to race when teams finally started to take position. From 2KM to 1KM to go, Groupama-FDJ were leading but through the final corner at 900M, it was every man for themselves. Iván García Cortina of Movistar was first to go on the left side barriers. Giacomo Nizzolo of Q36.5 got a run and overtook Cortina but Pavel Bittner of DSM-Firmenich did the same to Nizzolo to come home first. Nizzolo was second and Cortina held on for third.
