Arctic Race of Norway 2024 Stage 3

August 6, 2024 The GC should be decided today. Four categorized climbs await including a Category 1 summit finish at Jakobsbakken. Gilles De Wilde of Flanders-Baloise, Jelle Johannink of TDT-Unibet, Louis Blouwe of Bingoal-WB, Filippo Ridolfo of Novo Nordisk, Anton Stensby and Kalle Kvam of Coop-Repsol went up the road and, with 90KM remaining, they had 2 minutes. Johannink took the two KOM's up to this point and the third at 87KM to go, all but sealing up the mountains classification overall. Uno-X Mobility did the pace making for majority of the day. It wasn't until 15KM to go that other teams came to the front to set their position for the final climb. The break was all but caught at the foot of Jakobsbakken with 7KM to go. Davide De Pretto of Jayco AlUla and Kamiel Bonneu of Flanders Baloise attacked on the steep lower section with 5.5KM to go with little organization behind. The leaders still had 18 seconds with 2KM to go with Uno-X Mobility organized and riding hard in the bunch. De Pretto dropped away under the 1KM banner, leaving Bonneu ahead for a solo bid to the line. The bunch waited and waited to go and they waited too late. Bonneu crossed the line first for an emotional win. A charging Magnus Cort of Uno-X Mobility came across 2 seconds later with Kevin Vermaerke of DSM-Firmenich on the same time in third. Cort takes over the GC, 1 second ahead of Bonneu and 7 seconds up on Vermaerke.
