August 7, 2024 The GC is tightly packed and with bonus seconds available at Intermediate Sprint points, it would be a more active start than in previous days. With 140KM to go, six riders got away including Karsten Larsen Feldmann of Coop-Repsol, Logan Currie and Jonas Gregaard of Lotto-Dsnty, Alessandro Perracchione of Novo Nordisk, Arthur Kluckers of Tudor Pro Cycling, and Andreas Stokbro of TDT-Unibet. Uno-X Mobility took control and held the gap around 3 minutes 45 seconds. Jayco AlUla lent a hand to the chase and gradually brought the gap to 3 minutes 20 seconds with 50KM to race. The break were putting up a good fight, so much so that Israel-Premier Tech and Astana threw riders at the chase. With 37KM to go, panic started to show in the bunch. The gap was still 3 minutes 15 seconds and Arkéa-B&B Hotels sent up a rider to chase along with Flanders-Baloise and DSM-Firmenich. At 12KM to go, the gap was 90 seconds but with 7KM to go, their lead was 1 minute which felt under control given the 2KM climb up to the finish line. The leaders hit the final 2KM with 32 seconds. Israel-Premier Tech led into the final kilometer as if it were a sprint. Gregaard was the only one to make a move from the break, attacking with 800M to go. The bunch was whittled down to ten riders when Magnus Cort of Uno-X Mobility attacked with 250M to go. He only managed to catch Gregaard at 175M. Cort carried his effort to take the stage win and the overall prize. Clément Champoussin of Arkéa-B&B Hotels crossed the line right behind Cort for second with Fabio Christen of Q36.5 in third. Champoussin took over second place overall with Kevin Vermaerke of DSM-Firmenich finishing the race in third place.
