Place Name: Olimpijska
Address: Olimpijska 2, 57-340 Duszniki-Zdrój, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland
Details: August 14, 2024 Jan Maas of Jayco AlUla, Michał Paluta of the Polish National Team, and Nicolas Debeaumarché of Cofidis set off in the break as soon as the flag dropped. The route looks difficult with four Category 2 climbs but the trio were not tempting enough for others to join in. Astana, Lidl-Trek and Visma-Lease a Bike took turns at the front of the peloton, keeping the break locked in at 3 minutes. Ineos kicked off the aggression in the peloton a bit before 90KM to go on the climb to Góra Świętej Anny. It brought the gap down to just 1 minute by the top at 88KM to go. Seven riders got clear of the bunch and joined up with the three leaders at 76.5KM to go with a lead back to the peloton of 1 minute. Those riders included Pello Bilbao of Bahrain-Victorious, Sam Watson of Groupama-FDJ, Andrea Bagioli of Lidl-Trek, Ben Turner of Ineos, Pepijn Reinderink of Soudal Quickstep, Mick Van Dijke of Visma-Lease a Bike, and Hugo Houle of Israel-Premier Tech. The break went over the Karłów climb for the first time at 62KM to go, maintaining their lead of around 1 minute 20 seconds. With 53KM to go on the descent of Karłów, Debeaumarché took a corner too fast and crashed, taking down Reinderink. Reinderink was able to remount but Debeaumarché had to abandon the race. EF-Education EasyPost started to ride but it was DSM-Firmenich that did the damage on Karłów for the last time, making the catch with just under 20KM to ride. Lidl-Trek took control on the run to the final ramp to the line of 900M at 8% average. Bahrian-Victorious took over at 1KM to go as they turned on to a narrow, steep road through the trees. 20 guys were still in contention with 300M to go when Diego Ulissi of UAE picked up the speed. He led through a series of narrow turns into the finish straight with 100M to go. Thibau Nys of Lidl-Trek was third wheel, sprinting passed Wilco Kelderman of Visma-Lease a Bike and pipped Ulissi on the line for the win with Kelderman holding on for third.
