The GC should be finalized at the conclusion of the day, the Queen Stage of the race. The route runs over 180KM with 3100 meters of climbing through the Tatra Mountains of Southern Poland.
We did not get footage of the race until 155KM to go. At that point, Silvan Dillier of Alpecin-Deceuninck, Samuele Battistella of Astana, and Davide Formolo of Movistar led the race 1 minute 20 seconds ahead of Lukas Nerurkar of EF-Education EasyPost and Michał Paluta of the Polish National Team, and 1 minute 50 seconds in front of the peloton. Paluta pressed on alone and got within 40 seconds but couldn't get any closer to the leaders and had to drop back, getting caught with 138KM to go.
Tobias Foss of Ineos rolled off the peloton with 74KM to go and built up a gap of 45 seconds but he did not manage to make a dent in the gap to the leaders. The race went over the Ściana Bukowina (Bukowina Wall) for the first time at 58.5KM to go. Foss was directly in the middle, 1 minute behind the leaders and 1 minute ahead of the peloton. Cameras did not pick it up but Archie Ryan of EF-Education EasyPost, Mick Van Dijke of Visma-Lease a Bike, and Tim Wellens of UAE attacked and quickly bridged to Foss with 55KM to go.
The Wellens group made it to the original break on the Ściana Harnaś with 46.5KM to go. The new group of 7 leaders and 1 minute on the Visma-Lease a Bike led peloton as they made a large loop back around to the Ściana Bukowina. Wellens attacked the break at the foot of Bukowina but Ryan counter attacked and was solo with 17KM to go and a gap of 35 seconds to the peloton. Ryan went over Bukowina still with 23 seconds on a reduced peloton of around 30 riders. The road started to rise again at 4KM and he was finally caught with 2400M to race.
DSM-Firmenich did the hard riding but peeled off, leaving Wilco Kelderman of Visma-Lease a Bike to control. Yannis Voisard of Tudor Pro Cycling attacked at 1500M but UAE had numbers and their minds set on the stage win, catching Voisard at 800M. Kelderman was the first to sprint but Diego Ulissi of UAE was there and came around. Charging from behind though was Thibau Nys of Lidl-Trek who came around Ulissi at twice his speed to take his third win of the week. Ulissi held on for second place, just fending off Oscar Onley of DSM-Firmenich. Onley moved to 10th in GC but he was the only change in the top 10.
