Renewi Tour 2024 Stage 3

August 30, 2024 A long transfer overnight brought the riders West, to the coast line of the North Sea and just down the road from Knokke-Heist. The route travels South into the heart of West Flanders for a likely sprint finish in Ardooie. Four riders got up the road including Stage 1's journey man Jordy Bouts of TDT-Unibet, Aaron Van Poucke and Ward Vanhoof of Flanders-Baloise, and Warre Vangheluwe of Soudal Quickstep. Their lead never exceeded 2 minutes and by the time the break got the bell for the final lap with 16KM to go, it was down to just 30 seconds. Vangheluwe was the final one caught at 4KM to go with the peloton at full speed. At 600M, Mathieu van der Poel of Alpecin-Deceuninck took the front with Jonathan Milan of Lidl-Trek on his wheel then Jasper Philipsen in third position, just like Stage 1. The result would not be any different either. Milan kicked with 230M to go, Philipsen almost got boxed in and had to go the long way around van der Poel. He got back in the slipstream but Milan took the win, Philipsen had to settle for second again. Max Walscheid took up sprinting duties for Jayco AlUla and pulled off third place.
