Place Name: Derngate
Address: 2 Derngate, Northampton, NN1 1UB, United Kingdom
Details:
September 7, 2024 There are two climbs along the route, Newnham Hill and Bullshill, but they are within the first 20KM. The rest of the day is rolling up and down but it should be a sprint into Northampton. The start was active but only three riders got away, Connor Swift of Ineos, Matthew Holmes of Team GB, and Rasmus Pedersen of Decathlon AG2R Development Team. Simon Clarke of Israel-Premier Tech kept the gap close at 2 minutes, strong holding the race still with 86KM to go. The break were clever and playing with the bunch, backing off and accelerating to preserve their lead. At around 30KM to go though, they pinned their ears back and put the hammer down to make it to the finish. The leading trio committed entirely but the peloton were simply stronger, making the catch at 800M from the line. Israel-Premier Tech led through the final corner at 400M with Uno-X Mobility poised behind. Paul Magnier of Soudal Quickstep jumped at just over 200M to go and caught Uno-X Mobility off-guard. He hit fresh air and powered to the line for another stage win. Erlend Blikra of Uno-X Mobility was able to catch the draft of Magnier to take second place with Ethan Vernon of Israel-Premier Tech taking third place. There was no change on GC for the top three podium spots.
