ITT day is a 15.5KM route that takes the riders around Differdange, up a 2KM climb and back down to the finish.
Mads Pedersen of Lidl-Trek put up a fast early time but as always, the GC riders to come would pose a threat to take the win. Juan Ayuso of UAE was the first to challenge Pedersen, going through the Intermediate time check 6 seconds ahead. He continued his effort and crossed the line 11 seconds ahead to take the provisional lead.
Marc Hirschi of UAE went through the time check 7 seconds down on his teammate. Shortly after, Mathieu van der Poel of Alpecin-Deceuninck was just 4 seconds down on Ayuso at the same point which made the race for the overall very tight. The last rider through the Intermediate check was Mauri Vansevenant of Soudal Quickstep, 21 seconds down. At the finish, Hirschi lost a few more seconds and came in 14 seconds down. Van der Poel ran out of steam in the second half of the race and came in 19 seconds down with Vansevenant losing the jersey after finishing 54 seconds behind Ayuso. Ayuso proved to be the fastest on the day and took the stage win. Antonio Tiberi of Bahrain-Victorious took second place with Pedersen in third.
The GC was reshuffled, moving everyone closer than they were at the start of the day. Van der Poel took the lead back but now only has 3 seconds on Ayuso and Vansevenant who are tied for second place. Hirschi dropped to fourth but only 8 seconds down with Tiberi still in the hunt in fifth at 10 seconds.
