point
Place Name: 533800
Address: 533800, Jingxi Shi, Baise Shi, Guangxi, China
Details: October 16, 2024 A longer day was set for Stage 2 at 181KM. The road would gradually increase in elevation the entire day as they headed North West along the Vietnamese border. The heat and humidity continued as the riders got underway in Chongzuo. Eight riders formed the break within the first 3KM including Dries De Bondt of Decathlon AG2R, Julien Vermote of Visma-Lease a Bike, Thomas Champion of Cofidis, Taco van der Hoorn of Intermarché-Wanty, Daan Hoole of Lidl-Trek, Filip Maciejuk of Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe, Martin Svrček of Soudal-Quickstep, and Chris Froome of Israel-Premier Tech. Froome was dropped early but the others still had 2 minutes with 31KM to go as they were nearing the top of the main climb of the day which was more of a 3% false flat drag. UAE were driving hard in the peloton along with Israel-Premier Tech and EF-Education EasyPost. Champion dropped away after having picked up the mountains points but the remaining six riders were pulling through and off very well. They held 1 minute with 11KM to go but Movistar, Ineos, and DSM-Firmenich chipped in with the chase on the gradually uphill and rolling roads. The final riders were caught around just 300M from the line. Much like yesterday, the road was incredibly wide which allowed many teams to be in the fight. Warre Vangheluwe of Soudal-Quickstep got the jump and went with 175M to go. Max Kanter of Astana was coming with speed but could not get passed Vangheluwe with the bike throw. Jake Stewart of Israel-Premier Tech took third in a photo finish. With time bonuses and count-back, Kanter took over the race lead going into the Stage 3.
