The route takes the riders 165KM from Verona to Vicenza through the Venetian Plain. The riders enter a local circuit with 70KM to go that they will take on five times. Each lap includes two climbs, the Villa Margherita and Via Pilla.
Lorenzo Milesi of Movistar, Davide Baldaccini of Corratec-Vini Fantini, Nickolas Zukowsky of Q36.5, Germán Darío Gómez of Polti Kometa, Ådne Holter of Uno-X Mobility, Kevin Pezzo Rosola of General Store-Essegibi-F.Lli Curia, and Ben Granger of Mg.K Vis-Colors for Peace made the break but Milesi crashed out and Darío Gómez was dropped leaving just five riders left at 63KM to go. The rain started to fall as the peloton were chipping away at the gap, down to just 90 seconds with four laps to go. A number of attacks went in the peloton on the Villa Margherita but it only managed to trim the peloton and bring the break back to within 20 seconds.
The break was caught with 48KM to go by a peloton of around just 60 riders. Marcel Camprubí of Q36.5 tried to get away but he was brought back and the race reset at 36KM to go. Alessandro Tonelli of VF Group-Bardiani-CSF-Faizanè was next to attack but he never got more than around 10 seconds and he was caught at 30KM to go. UAE split the group through the finish line with 2 laps to go. 15 riders got away and Alpecin-Deceuninck were the main team forced to do the chasing. Gianluca Brambilla of Q36.5 was the last of the front group to be caught at 15.5KM to go as they went through the finish line for the last lap.
Marc Hirschi of UAE and Romain Grégoire of Groupama-FDJ went off together over the top of the Margherita climb and they were joined by Filippo Zana of Jayco AlUla and Samuele Battistella of Astana. The rest of the bunch came back to the four leaders but the front group now was only 11 riders with another 8 about 15 seconds back with 5.5KM to go. The groups came together with 5KM to go but riders who didn't trust their uphill sprint abilities were jumping around to get away.
The light was fading under heavy cloud and rain but the 1KM to go banner came and went with Israel-Premier Tech leading the way. Grégoire came around a sweeping right turn with 200M in first but the incline was getting steeper. Corbin Strong of Israel-Premier Tech timed his effort and came over the top. He held his lead across the line to take the win to capitalize on his end of season form. Xandro Meurisse of Alpecin-Deceuninck pipped Grégoire to take second place.
