Even though the Tour de France abandoned their final day celebration this year for a proper road race, La Vuelta has maintained tradition with a 108KM stage finishing on a circuit around Madrid. After 52KM of riding, the race enters Madrid for nine laps, each containing three 180 degree turns and finishes in front of La fuente de Cibeles, an iconic Madrid landmark.
The flag dropped for the neutral roll out under warm conditions in Alalpardo. Jersey wearers and their teams all had their chance to ride side by side to get their photo's taken but after a while, riders were eager to get going and Lotto started riding with 90KM to go. They continued at a fairly pedestrian pace but with 58KM to go, the race was stopped by a large group of Pro-Palestinian protesters. A few riders nearly crashed and the organizers were forced to pause the race. Reports were coming in from the finish straight that protesters were flowing into the streets, making it impossible to safely pass through. It was decided that the remaining stage be cancelled and La Vuelta drew to its unceremonious official conclusion.
After three weeks of racing the jersey winners were:
Green Sprint: Mads Pedersen Lidl-Trek

White Best Young Rider: Matthew Riccitello of Israel-Premier Tech
