Luis Ocaña Memorial

The memorial is located on the Col de Menté at the spot where Luis Ocaña crashed on Stage 14 in the Tour de France in 1971. He was leading Eddy Merckx by 9 minutes at the time but a heavy storm turned the descent into a river. Ocaña crashed on this bend and abandoned the race, paving the way for another Merckx win.
