Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana 2025 Stage 1

February 5, 2025 The first Team Time Trial in seven years at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana is a long one at 34KM and it could be the stage that blows the GC wide open. There are some minor undulations on the course but the riders may not even notice them with the speeds they will be carrying. Time is taken on the fourth rider over the line for each team so managing resources across the flat terrain and keeping the team together through the twisting final kilometer will be crucial for a good time. Lidl-Trek set off in the first third of the teams and their benchmark proved to be very competitive. Team after team came in including UAE-XRG and none could get within 30 seconds. Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe were the last team off and by the time they hit 1KM to go, the best time had gone by, giving Lidl-Trek a dominant win. Second place was Jayco AlUla, 47 seconds behind and UAE-XRG down at 50 seconds. Mathias Vacek led through the line so he will assume the race lead with his teammates Jonathan Milan and Daan Hoole holding second and third on the same time.
