O Gran Camiño - The Historical Route 2025 Stage 3

February 28, 2025 The GC is still very tight with 30 riders all within 30 seconds of Magnus Cort but a Time Trial will spread out the gaps before the main climbing day tomorrow. The 15.6KM route leaves Ourense, known for its hot springs and beautiful bridges, on 2.5KM of flat roads before starting the 5KM climb of the Alto de Sabadelle which averages nearly 6%. They stay up on a plateau for the rest of the race before finishing in Pereiro de Aguiar. Urko Berrade of Equipo Kern Pharma was the first rider to go under 24 minutes but the time wouldn't last long as the riders closer to the top of the GC continued to come off the ramp and across the finish line. Maxime Decomble of Groupama-FDJ put in a storming ride, taking the hot seat by 12 seconds. Only two riders could top the young Frenchman's time. Davide Piganzoli of Polti-VisitMalta was 4 seconds faster but the man of the match was Derek Gee of Israel-Premier Tech who put in 16 seconds to Piganzoli to take the stage win with a speed of 40.173KM/HR. Gee overhauled Magnus Cort in the GC by 5 seconds with his ITT ride while Piganzoli moved up to third overall.
