Details:
May 17, 2025 A break of six riders went early in the stage from Tata to Székesfehérvár including Louis Sutton of Euskatel-Euskadi, Sander Nistad Stien of Epronex-Hungary Cycling, Viktor Vandenberghe of Pauwels Sauzen-Cibel Clementines, Diego Pablo Sevilla of Polti-VisitMalta, Kamil Małecki of Q36.5, and Riccardo Lucca of Karcag Cycling ÉPKAR Team. Jayco AlUla did the controlling for a likely bunch sprint but small local circuits in Székesfehérvár would make the finale quite tricky. With 35KM to go, UAE-XRG tried to split the peloton in cross winds but race leader Harold Martín López of XDS-Astana was on the right side of the split. Alessandro Covi of UAE-XRG and Albert Withen Philipsen of Lidl-Trek both tried to attack and get away but the resources in the peloton were too much and with 10KM to go, teams started to prepare for a sprint. VF-Group Bardiani CSF-Faizanè led into the long finishing straight but Jayco AlUla came with a head of steam to the front. Dylan Groenewegen was not at the back of the train and they effectively stop their lead out. A surge came from the other side of the bunch by UAE-XRG but it was still too long. They faded with 200M to go but Groenewegen found himself in the right place at the right time and started his sprint as UAE-XRG faded. His run took him all the way to the line for the win, his first of the season. Danny van Poppel of Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe was second with Tim Torn Teutenberg of Lidl-Trek in third.
