May 30, 2025 As is tradition, the final stage of the 2025 Tour of Norway is a circuit race around Stavanger that should end in a bunch sprint. The stage is only 130KM and consists of six, 22KM laps, each with the 500M climb of Grisabakken 7KM before a fast finish around the port and back through town. Alexander Kristoff of Uno-X Mobility has won this stage in his hometown on a few occasions and will be looking to do the same today. The sun continued to shine down, making for a beautiful start in Stavanger. A group of four riders got away after about 10KM of racing before the first passage of Grisabakken. The peloton blocked the road going up Grisabakken but the Norwegian National Team were not represented. They found a crack at the front and squeezed through to kick off more attacks. No one was able to make it up to the leaders however leaving Toon Aerts of Lotto, Wessel Mouris of Unibet-Tietema Rockets, Eirik Vang Aas of Coop-Repsol, and Emil Toudal of ColoQuick to go up the road. They had 1 minute as they went through the finish line for the first time with 110KM to go. Israel-Premier Tech started riding and with help from Uno-X Mobility, the gap stabilized just under 3 minutes. Almost nothing happened for the next 65KM except a slight increase in pace in the bunch coming into 2 laps of the circuit remaining. Picnic-PostNL went through a few men in the chase and with 36KM to go, Uno-X Mobility and UAE-XRG added resources to bring the gap down to 90 seconds. The break started Grisabakken for the penultimate time at 29.5KM to go. The bunch rode steady up the climb but ramped it up through the finish line and the suburban streets of Stavanger. The bunch strung out in single file making it difficult for anyone to improve their position. UAE-XRG led on to the climb for the last time with the break less than 30 seconds ahead. The pace was strong but not enough to make much damage in the bunch and with 6KM to go, most of the little gaps were sewn up. Mouris and Toudal were the last surviving members of the the break but they were caught inside 2500M to go as Visma-Lease a Bike were teeing up the sprint. Uno-X Mobility muscled the other teams out of the way and led through 1KM to go. Rui Oliveira of UAE-XRG led Juan Sebastián Molano into 250M to go where Molano started his sprint. Molano mis-shifted or dropped his chain and had to sit down as Kristoff powered passed to take the lead. The road straightened which gave Matthew Brennan of Visma-Lease a Bike a clean run on Kristoff. They were side by side as they crossed the line but it was Brennan who nudged ahead in the last 10M to take the victory. Brennan extended his GC lead and won the overall by 28 seconds. With the stage win and the overall, Brennan now has the second most wins this season of any male professional rider which is an incredible feat given he is still a teenager. Victor Langellotti of Ineos held on to second overall with Jan Christen of UAE-XRG in third at 39 seconds.
