Tour of Slovenia 2025 Stage 1

June 4, 2025 The opening stage of the Tour of Slovenia was expected to be a bunch sprint with the profile going downhill or flat for the last 85KM. Fabio Christen of Q36.5, Matic Žumer of Adria Mobil, Jaka Marolt of Factor Racing, and Mihael Štajnar of Pogi Team Gusto Ljubljana went up the road and spent over 110KM in the break but the sprint teams had control and brought them back in time to set up their lead outs. Jayco AlUla hit the front inside 3KM to go. UAE-XRG and Uno-X Mobility both tried to challenge Jayco AlUla but it was the Australian outfit that led through the final corner under 500M to go. UAE-XRG had Juan Sebastián Molano in good position but he didn't have the legs to get out of the saddle and faded out of contention with 200M to go. Dylan Groenewegen of Jayco AlUla jumped at 175M and held off a number of sprinters that all came up about a half a bike length short. After the photo, Phil Bauhaus of Bahrain Victorious was shown to be second with Manuel Peñalver of Polti-VisitMalta in third place.
