Details:
August 12, 2025 With so many Danes in the pro peloton, the Tour of Denmark has increased its profile on the UCI calendar and demands quite a strong start list. Stage 1 was a logistical challenge with the race taking place on the island of Bornholm in the middle of the Baltic Sea. The stage was 178KM from Nexø to Rønne with three finishing laps around Rønne that including the 700M, 7.4% Helligpeder hill. Of the original break, four riders made it to the finish ahead of the peloton, as did a group of attackers that bridged up. The riders from the break were Conrad Haugsted of ColoQuick, Magnus Bak Klaris of Airtox-Carl Ras, Julius Johansen of the Danish National Team, and Victor Vercouillie of Flanders-Baloise. They were joined by Mads Pedersen and Mattias Skjelmose of Lidl-Trek, Lukáš Kubiš of Unibet-Tietema Rockets, Niklas Larsen of BHS-PL Beton Bornholm, and William Blume Levy of Uno-X Mobility. Pedersen won the sprint to take victory ahead of Kubiš and Haugsted. The peloton came in 38 seconds later which may be too much for any rider with GC ambitions to claw back.
