August 24, 2025 The run from Halle to Magdeburg is relatively straightforward and we should see a bunch sprint to close out the 2025 Lidl Deutschland Tour. There is one categorized climb on the route after 16KM of racing. The Johannashall is 1KM at 7.5% and will be pivotal for the Mountains classification because Vinzent Dorn and Miguel Heidemann are tied on 10 points and whoever leads over the top will take home the jersey. The rest of the stage takes the riders North through the small towns of Saxony-Anhalt for the finish after two, 6KM laps on the Schleinufer along the Elbe river. On the Johannashall, the race was kicking off and Brandon McNulty of UAE-XRG took the maximum points with Enzo Leijnse of Picnic-PostNL in second and Vinzent Dorn in third. Dorn moved up to 11 points, 1 over Heidemann but unfortunately for Dorn, Leijnse also moved up to 11 points and since the Dutch rider took maximum points on three climbs across the race and Dorn only won at the top of two, Leijnse would go out the winner of Mountains Jersey. With 76KM to go, McNulty was still in the lead alone with 2 minutes 35 seconds advantage over the bunch which was being led by Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe and Lidl-Trek. The course approaching Großalsleben 58KM to go opened up with fields on either side of the road and wind started to blow left to right across the riders. McNulty was caught as riders in the peloton were split off the back and scrambling to get back on. Through Oschersleben, the buildings sheltered the riders from the wind and most of the dropped riders were able to return. Right before a motorway bridge with 26KM to go, Nils Politt of UAE-XRG got a nice slingshot from the back of the peloton and attacked with speed. He continued pressing on but the gap was stitched up and the teams of Lidl-Trek, Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe, and Uno-X Mobility took control for a bunch sprint. The peloton entered the circuit and, with 6.5KM to go came the bonus sprint. Riley Sheehan of Israel-Premier Tech was impressively quick and took the 3 seconds but they didn't have any direct consequence to the GC as Sheehan started the day 15 seconds down overall and 5 seconds behind Jhonatan Narváez of UAE-XRG in second. If the American could finish on the podium of the stage and Narváez was out of the top three, Sheehan would move into second overall. After the sprint, Visma-Lease a Bike went to the front of the peloton to keep the race quick. Just outside of 5KM to go, a bump of shoulders caused Alexander Kristoff of Uno-X Mobility to crash which also brought down Bahrain Victorious's main sprinter Phil Bauhaus and a few others. Visma-Lease a Bike continued to lead until 1,500M to go when Q36.5 moved their sprint train up along with Bahrain Victorious and Soudal Quickstep. Sprint trains seemed to evaporate with the exception of Visma-Lease a Bike which left everyone scrambling for Matthew Brennan's wheel. Inside the final 800M, Jonathan Milan had to move himself up and he came along side Danny van Poppel. Van Poppel tried to protect his space and put his elbow out but when he did, he hit the wheel in front of him and he came down. Wout van Aert did another phenomenal lead out for Visma-Lease a Bike, taking Brennan on an armchair ride into the last 150M. Brennan opened up on the inside and looked to be challenged by Milan but the Brit had the easiest run to the finish and fresh legs counted for a lot. Brennan took his second win of the week ahead of Søren Wærenskjold of Uno-X Mobility with Milan taking third. Søren Wærenskjold wrapped up the GC by adding to his lead and won the race by 16 seconds to Narváez and 19 seconds to Sheehan.
