January 31, 2026 The final mountain day in Mallorca is a short one, just 147KM between Andratx and the top of the Mirador d'es Colomer in Pollença. It's a very lumpy profile with almost none of the flat roads we saw yesterday in Tramuntana. The first 58KM include the Coll de sa Gramola, Coll de sa Bastide, and the Coll den Claret. The race reaches the town of Sóller with 65KM to go and starts the 14KM, 6% Coll de Puig Major. After the top of Puig Major, there are a few bumps along the way but the next 45KM are predominantly downhill all the way to Pollença. The final climb of Mirador d'es Colomer rises to the finish but it is not as difficult as yesterday's Coll de sa Batalla. The Mirador d'es Colomer is 3.4KM at 5.7% which may just be long enough to split the climbers up and produce a solo winner. Big storms blew through the Mediterranean over night and battered Mallorca with hail and 70KM/HR winds. By morning, skies were clear but temperatures were approaching 0C (32F) so the organizers decided to shorten the race by cutting out the first 26KM of racing. A break was established with eight riders including Raúl García Pierna of Movistar, Felix Engelhardt of Jayco AlUla, Ådne Holter of Uno-X Mobility, Diego Uriarte of Equipo Kern Pharma, Alexys Brunel of TotalEnergies, Samuel Fernández of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, Jonathan Caicedo of Petrolike, and Txomin Juaristi of Euskatel-Euskadi. With 61KM to go at the start of the Puig Major, Juaristi had been dropped but the remaining seven were working to preserve their 90 second advantage over the Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe led peloton. Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe had the break at just 15 seconds with 3KM still to climb so García Pierna decided to give it one more good nudge to stay away. The last teammate of Remco Evenepoel pulled off the front which gave the Belgian an opportunity to accelerate. He pulled a group of eight clear but the gradients weren't terribly steep and he couldn't shake them. The move did bring García Pierna back into the group however. There were lots of eyes on Evenepoel but few on Christian Scaroni of XDS-Astana. The Italian jumped off the front, followed by García Pierna. They were brought back and then Scaroni went again. Maxim Van Gils went to the front for Evenepoel, caught Scaroni, and made the decision to just set a hard pace up the rest of the climb to keep the group at bay. Through the tunnel at the top, Evenepoel attacked and was tagged by Iván Romeo of Movistar who had been Evenepoel's shadow up the climb. Mathys Rondel of Tudor Pro Cycling managed to descend well to make it three at the front. Just passed the Gorg Blau Reservoir and under an ancient looking stone aqueduct, Scaroni and Van Gils caught the lead group to make it five. More came across on one of the uphill ramps including Johannes Kulset of Uno-X Mobility, António Morgado of UAE-XRG, Georg Steinhauser of EF-Education EasyPost, and Diego Pescador of Movistar. Pescador stole a small gap on a downhill section and built a maximum lead of 14 seconds but he was hauled back and the nine riders started the final descent into Pollença all together with 24KM to go. Pescador stretched the group once again and got another gap. When the descent flattened with 17KM to go, Evenepoel and Rondel came up to make three at the front with the chasing six at 15 seconds. With 15KM to go, Evenepoel really put the power down and blew Pescador right off the wheel. Evenepoel got a bit of help from Rondel but the Olympic Champion did most of the work to build a 58 second lead at the base of the Mirador d'es Colomer with 3.5KM to go. Evenepoel accelerated out of a hairpin with 2.5KM to go but Rondel didn't give up. The Frenchman nearly got on but Evenepoel kept his strong pace and the gap slowly opened. Evenepoel chewed up the remaining meters and crossed the line first for the third time in as many races. Rondel came across 19 seconds later for second place. In the race for third, six riders remained in contention in the last 300M. Scaroni attacked and was marked by Morgado. Kulset countered but couldn't get a gap. Van Gils waited until 100M from the line before launching his own attack. This one would stick and Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe would make it a 1-3 on the day to close out a successful few mountain days in Mallorca.
