With the GC effectively locked, the only thing that is left to decide is the winner of the final stage from Zayed National Museum to Abu Dhabi Breakwater. The stage should be visibly stunning as it takes in all of the attractions along the coast in Abu Dhabi such as the Yas Marina F1 circuit, Zayed Sports City, and Al Maryah Island. There is only 500M of elevation across the 149KM of racing and, given that the course is mostly within the city, the wind is unlikely to play a factor. The run-in couldn't be more straightforward. The last real change of direction comes just under 7KM to go with the last chink in the road at 1,800M. The bunch may briefly string out here but the road opens up wide again the rest of the way to the finish.
The first 17KM of racing was done at an average speed of 63KM/HR. As a result, a decent break got away made up of five strong riders including Callum Thornley of Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe, Daan Hoole of Decathlon CMA CGM, Ezra Caudell of Modern Adventure, Lorenzo Milesi of Movistar, and Aivaras Mikutis of Tudor Pro Cycling. With 61KM to go, they had just 55 seconds and were being tracked by the peloton led by UAE-XRG with Kevin Vermaerke, Lidl-Trek with Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier and a number of riders from Uno-X Mobility.
There were a bit of nerves heading onto the 4KM Umm Yifenah Bridge with 51KM to go but the wind wasn't particularly strong and the bunch made it across in one piece. The gap remained incredibly stable, always hovering between 40 and 55 seconds. Caudell dropped out of the break with cramp at 16KM to go just as the gap dipped down to 30 seconds for the first time. The catch was made with perfect timing at 2KM to go.
As soon as the break was caught, the bunch went into full lead out mode. Alpecin-Premier Tech and XDS-Astana challenged Lidl-Trek but with 700M, it was Modern Adventure in a line of three riders, side by side with Lidl-Trek. Modern Adventure couldn't take it the whole way which forced their sprinter Riley Pickrell to jump on behind Jonathan Milan who was following the Uno-X Mobility train. Milan was the first to go, jumping from second wheel at 200M. Erlend Blikra of Uno-X Mobility was straight on the Italian. Milan kept the power the entire way to the line and Blikra was unable to get out of the slipstream. Milan raised his arm for the third time this week to close out a successful campaign in the Middle East. Blikra scored second place with Sam Welsford of Ineos across the line in third.
There were no changes in GC today. Isaac del Toro of UAE-XRG goes out as the overall winner by 20 seconds to Antonio Tiberi of Bahrain Victorious and 1 minute 14 seconds to Luke Plapp of Jayco AlUla.
