The longest and flattest of the five races should be a sprint. Teams have swapped out their climbers for the fast men in anticipation of a bunch kick back in Colònia de Sant Jordi.
Edgar Curto of Illes Balears Arabay, Victor Martínez of Sabgal-Anicolor, Sinuhé Fernández of Burgos-Burpellet BH, George Radcliffe of XSpeed United, and Ethan Craine and Colby Lange of Project Echelon made the early break but Tudor Pro Cycling and Intermarché-Wanty brought their maximum gap of 3 minutes 30 seconds down to 2 minutes 30 seconds with 65KM to go. The gap disintegrated over the next 20KM. UAE-XRG started attacking which put the nail in the coffin for the break.
Radcliffe was the last man standing, dangling out front by 30 seconds. Nils Politt of UAE-XRG couldn't sit still and wait for a sprint. He sent an attack with around 35KM to go and brought Pau Llaneras of Illes Balears Arabay, Garin Kelley of XSpeed United, and Sinuhé Fernández with him. Politt and company were caught with 30KM to go by EF-Education EasyPost leaving just Radcliffe alone but his time was up with 20.7KM to go.
The final 10KM was quick on tight and twisting roads which made it difficult for any team to hold their position. EF-Education EasyPost made a run under 3KM but Uno-X Mobility and Intermarché-Wanty were challenging on the left side of the road. Those three teams led the bunch under 1KM to go but it was Uno-X Mobility who had the numbers to make a final push. The finishing straight dragged up and Uno-X Mobility's Erlend Blikra set off for the line with a little more than 200M to go. A slight headwind allowed Marijn van den Berg of EF-Education EasyPost to sit on the wheels until 150M when he jumped Blikra. Van den Berg put his hands in the air to give the team in pink their first success of the year. Anthony Turgis of TotalEnergies made a late run to pip Blikra for second, pushing the Norwegian to third place.
