The format for Trofeo Ses Salines has changed this year from a sprint to a TTT. There is a TTT in the Tour de France for 2026 and there are very few opportunities to get in race reps beforehand. The inclusion of today's TTT has caught the attention of a few big names who will be lining up with their squads including Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz of Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe, Enric Mas of Movistar, and Stefan Küng of Tudor Pro Cycling. The course is a pure specialist course at 23.8KM and pan flat. There are a few roundabouts and one U-turn but there is nothing too tricky to navigate.

Race Summary

The wind was still up but the rain had cleared and the race would be run under the sunny skies we expect to see in Mallorca. REMBE rad-net set the fastest time of the early runners but were booted off the hot seat by Flanders-Baloise who posted a time of 25 minutes 36 seconds. Unibet Rose Rockets put up a storming ride by going 55 seconds faster than Flanders-Baloise after having started just six of the seven riders allowed. Tudor Pro Cycling were the next to post the best time, setting a new benchmark of 24 minutes 14 seconds.

Jayco AlUla has historically been a good TTT squad but have fallen off in recent years. They are making strides back towards the top and went to the fastest provisional time, beating Tudor Pro Cycling by 2 seconds as they crossed the line. Movistar were next up and they went through the intermediate time check level with Jayco AlUla. The Spanish squad were able to accelerate through the head wind on the way back to the finish and ended their ride 13 seconds faster than the Australian outfit. The main problem for Movistar though was that Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe was still out on course and were well within striking distance at the intermediate time check. On the line, Redbull-Bora Hansgrohe were in the green by 4 seconds, giving Evenepoel a win on day one of racing for his new team and finishing with a blistering time of 59.674KM/HR.
